Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris will include new versions of an old enemy

Curse of Osiris will feature more than new Exotics, maps, and Mercury.

Details around Destiny 2‘s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, have been steadily revealed since the DLC’s launch trailer. Apart from a promise of a level cap hike, new Exotic weapons, and of course, a new campaign to conquer, Bungie has also recently said a new form of a familiar enemy will make an appearance.
In an interview with Italian gaming site Everyeye.it (as run through Google Translate), game developer Dave Matthews shared the expansion’s Mercury setting will house a new breed of the Vex.
When asked about the possibility of new versions of the bio-mechanical creatures, Matthews simply says, “Absolutely yes.” Thankfully, he explains further by detailing how involved the Vex will be in the story. “This expansion is all about Vex: We want to let you know how they work, how they think, how they can exist out of time, how their machines work, and how Vex uses them to achieve their goals,” Matthews said. “During the expansion, you will know different aspects of the mysterious race in different timelines.”
Bungie previously revealed Curse of Osiris will feature the Infinite Forest patrol zone, which will pit Guardians against hordes of the Vex that the legendary Osiris has been attempting to study. It’s intriguing for Guardians to hear more than just Osiris’ role in the Traveler’s story will be unveiled, as the Vex seem to be the new enemy faction attempting to control the Light. Matthews confirmed the story of Curse of Osiris will pick up immediately after the events of Destiny 2‘s campaign, which means the Cabal are gone and a new threat can attack the Traveler.
On a gameplay level, Bungie is giving players a higher level cap in the expansion, raising the current max level of 20 to 25. In turn, players can also reach 330 Power, and Matthews gave a small tease that vendors, like the mysterious Xûr, could offer gear that reflects the cap increase. “We’ll see how these changes will affect the overall picture of the experience, and on that basis, we will decide how to move with Xûr, too,” he said.
Starting on November 15th, Guardians will get a better look at what to expect from Curse of Osiris in a series of livestreams from the developer. The first will cover the storyline involved in the expansion, while the following two at later dates will show off the new modes and weapons that will be available when the expansion launches on December 5th.
