Spider-Man’s enemies will force players to change how they think

The enemies of next year's Spider-Man game may not be the most popular, but they offer a unique challenge.

Spiderman ps4 exclusiveThe upcoming Spider-Man game’s use of certain less-familiar enemies gives the developer the opportunity to truly push players to their limits, according to the game’s creative director.

The recent E3 2017 gameplay demo of Spider-Man offered up a rather unusual collection of enemies for Spidey to knock around, including Mister Negative and his Inner Demons criminal gang. While the demo’s lack of all-star Spider-Man villains was noticeable, creative director Bryan Intihar recently explained that these particular villains were chosen to challenge the player to mix up strategies.
“One of the reasons we chose the Inner Demons is because they have the negative energy weapons that require the player to mix up the strategies they use.” Intihar was recently quoted in an issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK (via Game Rant). “We want to find villains that force Spider-Man and the player to mix up how they play: really push and pull them as much as possible.
“How can I challenge players as Spider-Man? How can we mix up the strategy?”
That said, fans shouldn’t get too hung up on Mister Negative, as the developers have promised that a “big cast” of classic villains are planned for the game. One of these villains is presumably Kingpin, considering the crime boss showed his face for a brief moment in the same gameplay demo.
Spider-Man is slated to launch sometime in 2018, exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
