Players get special rewards for overcoming Leviathan's new challenges in Destiny 2, and now we know when they launch.
Bungie has answered the Guardian call for more from the Leviathan raid. Apart from the addition of the Prestige version recently, players will soon have new challenges to conquer. Thankfully, overcoming the new obstacles don’t just give bragging rights. Players can expect rare loot for their troubles, too.
Bungie revealed in its weekly blog that beginning on Tuesday, October 31st, the Leviathan raid will receive its first challenge mode. When players enter the raid, an optional challenge will await them, with the challenge resetting each week to “spice things up,” as Bungie says. However, Guardians won’t be given any guidance on how to complete the challenge. Instead, they’ll receive an in-game message when they have failed the task, giving them a small clue about what they might have done wrong.
As for goodies received from taking on the challenges, the developer confirmed a special emblem will be given for each unique challenge completed. Also, Guardians will be guaranteed a raid drop for the encounter, which is great news for those looking for better armor and weapons. Currently, Leviathan isn’t dropping as much high-level gear, so those looking to reach the 300 Power level minimum to take on the Prestige Leviathan should jump on the challenges.
The developer didn’t specify if the challenge modes will be available in both versions of Leviathan, but if they are, it’s likely the Prestige version will offer better gear from the raid drops. The raid is already difficult enough without the proper gear, but thankfully, Bungie has yet to fix a few exploits that make the event easier. Calus can still be cheesed by avoiding damage, and a Power weapon reload glitch will help Guardians unload heavy ammo on the waves of enemies.
The current community is about to usher in new Guardians, as the PC version will arrive on October 24th. Sadly, the raid for PC players will launch with a number of issues, with no word from Bungie on when they’ll be fixed.
