Attentive Shadow of War players will find an Assassin-themed Easter egg hidden within the game's dialogue.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was considered to have taken a fair share of inspiration from other popular action-adventure games, but the sequel, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, takes it a step further with a blatant Assassin’s Creed series reference.
The Orcs of Mordor have a wide range of personalities, and with this comes a mildly excessive amount of talking. It is in this frequent dialogue that players may discover a rather obvious nod to the Assassin’s Creed games.
“I’m an assassin,” players may overhear one Orc say to another, to which his companion replies, “We’re all assassins, it’s like a creed!”
A small portion of the game’s dialogue was delivered by actor Kumail Nanjiani, who voices one of the game’s many captains. Nanjiani was recently on an episode of Conan O’Brien’s Clueless Gamer, where he revealed that the goofy delivery of his lines was actually intentional.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is slated to launch October 10th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
